CHAI SBAGLIATO

A *stunning!* cocktail for this upcoming  holiday season!

Thrown back into the spotlight after a ‘Game of Thrones” meme gone wild, this Negroni spinoff has undoubtedly become this years’ cocktail of choice.  The Sbagliato, meaning “mistake” in Italian, subs the gin for prosecco (stunning!) and is the ‘perfetto’ summer refresher.  For those who “don’t like Negronis”, our Chai Sbagliato may change your mind!  Using our Calmer Chai, we created a spiced syrup to add a bit of sweetness to round out any bitterness that you may recall with the standard Negroni.  

So, grab your friends, a bottle of prosecco and get ready to enjoy some “mistakes”.

INGREDIENTS

  • 30ml Campari
  • 30ml Sweet Vermouth
  • 20ml Chai Syrup (see recipe below)
  • 60ml Prosecco
  • Orange Slice (to garnish)

METHOD

  1. Fill a glass with ice (we like large ice cubes for this one!)
  2. Combine the Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Chai Syrup in a separate glass.  Stir until combined, then pour over glass with ice.
  3. Top with the Prosecco and stir
  4. Garnish with a fresh orange slice and enjoy!

TO MAKE THE CHAI SYRUP

  1. Add equal parts water and sugar (½ cup each) to a pot and bring to a boil. Stir.
  2. Reduce heat and let simmer for 10 min.
  3. Add a generous scoop of Calmer Chai to the mixture.  Stir and keep simmering for another 5 minutes or until a tad thicker.
  4. Turn off the heat and let the Calmer Chai incorporate for another 15 min or so.  The longer it sits, the stronger it will be.
  5. Strain and pour into a heat-proof container.  You can keep it in the fridge for up to 2-4 weeks (remember to label the date on the bottle!)
