For those who like it HOT.

Chocolate and spice have always been a wonderful combo, so we decided to play around with the idea of a Chocolate Chilli Oil!  Made using our unique and delicious Super Spiced Cacao (along with a few spicy key-players) this easy to make and deliciously moorish chocolate chilli oil will knock your socks off. 


  • ½  Cup Chilli Flakes
  • ¼  Cup Sesame Seeds
  • 4  Cloves of Minced Garlic
  • 2  Tbsp of Minced Ginger
  • 2  Tbsp of Coconut Sugar (or Rice Malt Syrup)
  • 1  Tbsp of Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Cacao Nibs (or Cacao powder)
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 Cup of Neutral Oil (vegetable, safflower, sunflower, avocado, grapeseed, peanut)
  • ½  Cup of Super Spiced Cacao Mixture (see method)

Super Spiced Cacao Mixture Method:

  1. Scoop a spoonful of Super Spiced Cacao into a heat-proof vessel.
  2. Add ½ cup of boiling water. Swirl to incorporate and let sit for a few minutes.
  3. Strain.


  1. In a heatproof bowl, add the chili flakes, sesame seeds, garlic, ginger, coconut sugar, salt and cinnamon stick.
  2. In a small pot, heat your oil over low/medium heat*.
  3. Carefully pour the hot oil over the ingredients and allow to sizzle for a few minutes.
  4. Gently stir and add the Super Spiced Cacao liquid mixture and cacao nibs.
  5. Continue to stir and then cool slightly before enjoying!

Place into an airtight container or glass jar and store in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks (if it can last that long in your house!)  Enjoyed on dumplings, salads, avocado toast…you name it!  Try it with our Vegan Duck Salad, or on top of our Spiced Chickpea Salad.

*Make sure the oil is hot enough, otherwise it won’t incorporate well with the other ingredients (it should sizzle when you pour it!)
