24 Years, One Cup at a Time: Why We Started (and Why We're Still Here)

There was no five-year plan, no pitch deck, no big "aha" moment scribbled on a napkin at 2am. The truth is a lot simpler: I just wanted a good chai.

Picture it: out for coffee with friends, scanning the menu board for something — anything — chai-shaped. And there's nothing. Or worse, a sad little sachet of powder that tastes vaguely of Christmas and regret. So I made my own. Not to build an empire — just to solve my own very personal problem: I wanted to drink really good, properly spiced chai in a cafe, like everyone else got to drink their flat white. That was it. That was the whole plan.

From My Kitchen to Yours

I've always been a little obsessed with the alchemy of the kitchen — simmering spices, tweaking a blend until it's just right, watching something come together into a cup that makes people close their eyes on the first sip. Once I had something I was proud of, keeping it to myself was never really an option.

Sharing food — sharing chai — with the people I love is one of life's great joys. Turning that into a business simply meant I got to share it with a lot more people than I could ever fit around my kitchen table. This whole company, at its core, is just an extension of that instinct: make something good, then pass the cup along.

24 Years?! Us?!

Somehow, that simple little mission has carried us through 24 years of blending, brewing, packing, and posting chai to homes and cafes across the country. And none of it would have happened without you.

We have customers who are 80+ orders deep on our online store — that's not a customer, that's family. We have people who've moved overseas and still pay international freight just so their next cup tastes like home. This business is built on your loyalty, not our marketing budget.

So when we celebrate this birthday, we mean it's our birthday — yours as much as ours. You're the reason we get to keep making some of the best sticky chai in Melbourne (dare we say, in Australia) and sending it out into the world, one cup at a time.
